Commemorative Giving
Whenever you want to say "thank you", "congratulations", or "I'll never forget your kindness", your commemorative gift to Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation brings a double reward. Not only does it honor someone special, it also supports vital services provided by the Hospice.
Your commemorative gift is acknowledged with a letter sent to the person or family you designate at the time of the gift. You may choose to have your name included in the letter or you may remain anonymous. No dollar amount is ever disclosed. You of course will also get a letter thanking you for your kind gift.
To Remember... A commemorative gift is a very meaningful way to pay tribute to someone who has died. A gift may be made at the time of death or whenever you want to say, "they'll never be forgotten." Many people also choose to send a remembrance on the anniversary of a loved one's death.
To Honor... Commemorative gifts can also be made in honor of someone special; perhaps a physician, health care professional, or a favorite teacher or coach. Many people honor family members and friends on their birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions by making a donation in their name.
Nathan Adelson Hospice Circles of Honor
Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation provides a wonderful opportunity for creating a lasting tribute to a beloved family member or friend. When the honoree's commemorative gift total reaches an established level, the family can choose to acknowledge that person with a Circle of Honor. The Circles of Honor are displayed in the lobby of the Nathan Adelson Hospice Swenson Street in-patient facility and are a series of engraved, circular brass plates. Circles of Honor are also a wonderful way to commemorate a special birthday, anniversary or to thank someone for their support and kindness. The donations that we receive in honor or memory of your loved one can be used toward the cost of a circle.
The family can choose one of the following sizes:
Engraved 2.5" Circle of Honor: |
$1,000.00 |
Engraved 3.5" Circle of Honor: |
$2,000.00 |
Engraved 5.0" Circle of Honor: |
$3,000.00 |
Engraved 6.0" Circle of Honor: |
$5,000.00 |
Nathan Adelson Hospice Walk of Memories
The Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation Walk of Memories is a lasting way to remember loved ones, honor friends, say thank you and celebrate life. The walkway is a beautifully designed path of engraved bricks that meander around the grounds and gardens of the Nathan Adelson Hospice Swenson Street in-patient facility to be enjoyed by hospice patients, families, friends and visitors.
We invite you to purchase a personalized engraved brick to be placed within the hospice memorial walkway. Your brick will be inscribed with names or thoughts of your choice. With your purchase of a memorial brick, you are creating a permanent legacy that honors your special bond with those who are dear to you.
Each brick comes in the traditional "brick red" color and is available in two different sizes.
4" x 8" Memorial Brick: $250.00
Up to three lines of print, 20 characters per line including spaces and punctuation marks.
8" x 8" Memorial Paver: $500.00
Up to five lines of print, 20 characters per line including spaces and punctuation marks.
Note: With the purchase of an engraved brick or paver, a 'Mini Replica' brick or paver will be produced and sent to you or the person of your choice as a lasting memory.
Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation 'Gifts of Love' Butterfly Wall
Nathan Adelson Hospice staff and volunteers know how difficult it is to lose someone, but they also know that memories are a precious way to keep loved ones close to your heart. The Gifts of Love Butterfly wall is a display of engraved brass plates in the shape of butterflies. Each brass butterfly represents a gift in honor or memory of a loved one. These butterflies are displayed at our Nathan Adelson Hospice Buffalo Street in-patient facility.
The cost of each butterfly is $1,000.00 and the donations that we receive in honor or memory of your loved one can be used toward that cost.
Outright Gifts
Cash gifts are the most popular type of donation. They are effective immediately and easily distributed among current Nathan Adelson Hospice projects and programs. You may contribute by sending in a check, using your credit card, making an on-line donation or dropping by the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation office, which is located at 4131 Swenson Street, Las Vegas Nevada.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
In addition to giving to the Hospice General Fund for use "where the need is greatest", you can also direct your gift to a specific hospice program.
Indigent Care Fund
When the doctor determines that a patient is ready for hospice care it may become an intense, difficult time for the whole family and the last thing we want is for patients and families to worry about the cost of services. Your special gift can be used to help cover the costs of indigent patients or to underwrite the charges that are not paid by private insurance or Medicare.
Each year the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation provides between $800,000 and $1,000,000 to help underwrite the costs of uncompensated care provided to terminally ill indigent patients and their families.
Camp Mariposa
For the past 15 years Camp Mariposa has provided children ages 6 to 11 who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend the help they need to explore the natural, healthy process of grief. Camp Mariposa is a safe, comfortable and fun atmosphere that allows the campers to understand, through shared experiences, what it means to grieve and how to work through their feelings.
The cost for each camper is $125.00 for the entire weekend. Your support of this program allows us to offer scholarships, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to participate in this wonderful program.
The Bonnie Schreck Memorial Comfort Care Program
Established in 1999, the Bonnie Schreck Memorial Comfort Care program offers a variety of complementary therapies implemented to bring peace and comfort to hospice patients and families.
Bonnie Schreck, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, was known for her philanthropy to many local charities. After Bonnie's death on February 11, 1999, the program was established with funds given to Nathan Adelson Hospice in her memory.
Comfort Care Therapies are unique ways used to assist in managing pain and discomfort. These therapies are offered at our in-patient facilities and with your support will be expanded to patients homes, nursing homes and long-term care facilities.
Some of the therapies that are offered are: Water Therapy, Aromatherapy, Music Therapy, Massage Therapy and Pet Therapy.

PLANNED GIVING
A planned gift is different from the more traditional cash donations. It is a carefully considered gesture that transfers something of value to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation. Planned gifts help us to plan for the future and allow the donor to leave a legacy to support the mission of the Nathan Adelson Hospice. There are many types of planned gifts so we suggest checking with your financial advisor to see which one best suits your needs and plans.
Bequests
Bequests allow a specific dollar amount or fixed percentage of an estate to be willed directly to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation.
A bequest to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation can be:
the residue of your estate after all other provisions have been made.
a percentage of your estate, or a specific amount.
a share, portfolio, property, or similar asset.
Trusts
Trusts offer unique gift opportunities. Trustees may specify that Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation receive a certain percentage of the trust principal or interest earned by the trust, in memory of a loved one.
Life Insurance Policies
By donating a policy that is fully paid up, an income tax deduction equal to its replacement value can usually be taken by the donor. At the donors' death, Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation receives the face amount of the policy.
Assets
You can give gifts of property, such as real estate, or securities, deeds, land contracts, leases, stocks, IRA's, patents and royalties or other similar type gifts.
The Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation suggests that all donors check with their bank or financial planner to ensure that their gift will fulfill their needs while making the greatest impact on the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
If you have named the Nathan Adelson Hospice as a beneficiary in your Will or estate plans, please let us know. We would love the opportunity to thank you personally for your vision and support.
