Shauna Hughes is a member of the Firm's Administrative, Gaming and Government Affairs Department. The focus of Shauna's practice is government affairs, regulatory law, entitlement processing on local, county, state and federal levels, and lobbying for clients.
Ms. Hughes previously held the position of City Attorney for the City of Henderson, Nevada from 1983-2009. In her 26 year career as City Attorney, she provided legal representation for the mayor, city council, as well as the entire city government of Henderson. She supervised the civil and criminal divisions of the City Attorney's office as well as the Environmental Programs Division and Office of Court Programs.
An active and caring force in the community, she is a board member of The Nathan Adelson Hospice; the Henderson Boys and Girls Club; the Henderson Community Foundation; and the Henderson Science Museum. Ms. Hughes is also a founding member of the S.A.F.E. House, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid and shelter to victims of domestic abuse in Henderson, NV., and a member of the National Charity League.
In 2008 the State Bar of Nevada awarded Shauna the James Bartley Public Lawyer Award for distinguished public service. She is also a recipient of the 2008 Liberty Bell Award in recognition of outstanding service to the community awarded by the Clark County Bar Association.
Ms. Hughes is admitted in Nevada. She holds her Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School and her B.A. from John Carroll University. She is a member of the State Bar of Nevada; Clark County Bar Association; and the Nevada Justice Association. She is a former member of the State of Nevada Committee on Domestic Violence and the Nevada Advisory Council for Prosecuting Attorneys. Shauna is also an appointed member of the Supreme Court of Nevada Bench-Bar Committee.
