Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced Alexander Mylavarapu, M.D., has been named as its new Associate Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Mylavarapu will be responsible for the medical care and treatment of patients and providing medical direction and support to the members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality care.
“Dr. Mylavarapu is a capable, caring, and dedicated physician,” said Karen Rubel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nathan Adelson Hospice. “As our Associate Fellowship Program Director, Dr. Mylavarapu will provide education to community physicians and others engaged in the care of patients and families on the principles of palliative medicine during their end-of-life journey.”
Dr. Mylavarapu obtained his degree at Sri Ramachandra University in India and completed his Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship and his Geriatric Medicine and Extended Care Fellowship at the University of Nevada–Reno, School of Medicine. In his free time, Dr. Mylavarapu enjoys designing and handcrafting electric guitars and basses.
About The Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine Program
The Nathan Adelson Hospice Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and sponsored by OPTI-West. The program is designed to train physicians from the fields of child neurology, family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, radiation oncology, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, radiology, or surgery. The program provides humanistic, holistic, evidence-based education for graduate physicians seeking additional skill, competence, and certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
