LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced the launch of Care Companions, a new division that provides 24/7 non-medical personal home care assistance.

Today, many family members prefer to live at home, despite circumstances that make it difficult to do so.  Sometimes our clients need practical support, or there have been cognitive changes. Sometimes a health issue has put their independence in jeopardy. Care Companions will carefully match a family’s loved one with a uniquely qualified caregiver. The Personal Care Assistants will help with homemaking and personal activities, which allows our clients to continue living comfortably and safely at home – all based on a custom care plan that matches the requirements of our clients and even anticipates needs they may not have thought of yet. This disciplined approach is the hallmark of Care Companions.

Moreover, as people settle in at home to avoid exposure to the coronavirus, it is easy to forget isolation and loneliness can be a health danger as well, especially among the elderly and disabled. With the CDC advising vulnerable populations to “avoid crowds” and “stay home as much as possible” to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, feelings of isolation, loneliness, and depression could grow. To address our current situation, we are expanding Care Companions’ capacity to help our clients in need of an extra layer of support at home.

“There’s no doubt that the need is great, and now more than ever,” said Karen Rubel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nathan Adelson Hospice. “Providing compassion and care is a cornerstone of what we do every day. Our Personal Care Assistants will go to our client’s homes and help them with daily activities such as bathing, hygiene, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, Alzheimer’s care, and more.”
