Angela Collins Named Chief Operating Officer of Nathan Adelson Hospice; also Joins NHPCO’s Quality & Standard Committee

LAS VEGAS, NV – Jan. 7, 2021 – Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced the promotion of Angela Collins to chief operating officer, as well as her appointment to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s (NHPCO) Quality and Standards Committee. 

Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced an expanded life-saving collaboration with its longtime community partners at Nevada Donor Network. Members of Nathan Adelson Hospice’s interdisciplinary team now work directly with patients and their families to educate them about organ and tissue donation and can now make direct referrals to the Nevada Donor Network that will benefit local Nevadans.

Educating and encouraging patients to give the gift of life and health through organ and tissue donations is an important service to the community. Nathan Adelson Hospice patients have the opportunity to become a donor hero and give a last gift and act of charity to community members they will never meet or know. One donor hero has the power to save up to eight lives through organ donation and heal 75 or more through tissue and cornea donation.

Nathan Adelson Hospice, the oldest, largest and only non-profit hospice in Nevada, will be hosting the first Sweet Notes – a wine, chocolate and song virtual event — on Thursday, November 19th, 2020, at 6 p.m. Attendees will indulge in a delicious, one-of-a-kind interactive experience led by world-class sommelier, Harley Carbery, and chocolatier, Dayleen Coleman, as well as enjoy a mini-concert by America’s Got Talent contestant, Daniel Emmet. There will also be a special appearance from friend of Nathan Adelson Hospice, comedian Brad Garrett.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Patients at Nathan Adelson Hospice are getting a chance to virtually visit places they thought they wouldn’t ever see again.

By partnering with Flight To Remember (FTR), Nathan Adelson Hospice can get aerial video footage of a special place for the patient and their loved ones to watch together from the safety of the patient’s room or home.

LAS VEGAS – Nathan Adelson Hospice, southern Nevada’s oldest, largest and only non-profit hospice, has been selected to receive a $500,000 donation from the Engelstad Foundation through its grant program. The monetary donation will be used for the hospice’s Uncompensated Care Program, which provides palliative and compassionate hospice care to uninsured and underinsured patients and their family members.

Ms. Vandenberg has over 20 years of experience as a results oriented leader focused on fostering collaborative relationships, building effective teams, and delivering strong financial results. Ms. Vandenberg is originally from Venezuela and moved to the US in 1987 to pursue a graduate degree. She has two children, Alexander and Victoria and enjoys traveling, golf, indoor cycling and pilates training.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced the launch of Care Companions, a new division that provides 24/7 non-medical personal home care assistance.

Today, many family members prefer to live at home, despite circumstances that make it difficult to do so.  Sometimes our clients need practical support, or there have been cognitive changes. Sometimes a health issue has put their independence in jeopardy. Care Companions will carefully match a family’s loved one with a uniquely qualified caregiver. The Personal Care Assistants will help with homemaking and personal activities, which allows our clients to continue living comfortably and safely at home – all based on a custom care plan that matches the requirements of our clients and even anticipates needs they may not have thought of yet. This disciplined approach is the hallmark of Care Companions.

Nathan Adelson Hospice announced today the hiring of Dr. Kang Choi, DO, who successfully completed Nathan Adelson Hospice’s Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, as a staff Hospice and Palliative Care Team Physician.

Nathan Adelson Hospice today announced Alexander Mylavarapu, M.D., has been named as its new Associate Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Mylavarapu will be responsible for the medical care and treatment of patients and providing medical direction and support to the members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality care.

In her new role, Ms. Johnson will be responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy including fundraising events, marketing initiatives, planned giving, annual appeals, stewardship and donor engagement.

This year’s show will feature 2019 runway and ready-to-wear looks from many of the world’s most illustrious designers, all hand-picked from the exclusive fashion and accessories offering at Wynn Collection. Rachel Smith, KVVU Fox 5 host of MORE and More Access, will be emceeing the event. The show begins promptly at 11 a.m. in the Le Réve Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.

Nathan Adelson Hospice Names Jafeh Akpe as Chief Compliance Officer

LAS VEGAS – March 29, 2019 – Carole Fisher, president and CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice, today announced Jafeh Akpe has joined the nonprofit hospice as Chief Compliance Officer.

In his role, Akpe will be responsible for developing, overseeing and monitoring the Corporate Compliance Program of the organization in order to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and health care program requirements. Akpe will also ensure organizational compliance regarding the privacy and security of patient information. He will direct and supervise the Quality Officer, collaborate across teams to develop initiatives and implement process improvements relating to Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Accreditation, Finance, Billing and Coding.
